Crete Senesi – A Magical Place a Few Kilometers from Siena

Dear Friends,

Today I want to talk to you about another place that is not well known, away from the traditional tourist routes. However, it is still one of the most beautiful places to visit in Tuscany, especially for those who love nature.

This is about Crete Senesi.

Crete Senesi is a territory located south of the province of Siena, which reaches its maximum beauty on the regional road between Taverne D’ARbia with Rapolano Terme passing through Asciano. To access it you will have to take the fast track that goes to Siena towards Bettolle-Perugia, exit at the Taverne D’Arbia and continue towards the south on the secondary motorway.

Crete Senesi is particularly nice because it is an area dedicated to wheat so it is spectacular during various
periods of the year. If you pass through these roads from April to June you will enjoy its green colours, while in July and August the colours turn to yellow and light shades of brown. From mid-August to December the land is plowed and the colours range from black to brown.

Crete is also known as Crete Lunari because it possesses a very particular landscape that resembles the moon or some other planet. On the route to Crete you will also see little lakes where you can stick a dip during the hot summer months.

Warm regards as always,
Giorgio.
