An itinerary for the Val d’Orcia
The Val d’Orcia is a place that people travelling to Tuscany simply have to visit as the majority of the stunning photos that made them want to discover our beautiful land in the first place were themselves taken in this valley.
As a result, I am going to try to give some information and describe some places of interest that are situated in this valley that you can’t miss during your trip to Tuscany.
- Pienza
Pienza is without doubt one of the most emblematic spots in the valley. Built by the architect Rossellina
at the wish of the Pope, Pienza embodies the architectural beauty of the region with its subdued and elegant style.

When you leave Pienza to head towards Bagno Vignoni, it is a good idea to stop in San Quirico d’Orcia
so that you can enjoy its spectacular rose garden. As well as being a beautiful town, San Quirico d’Orcio is a key point on the route through the Val d’Orcia because the road passing through the town that connects Pienza and Bagno Vignoni is the most photogenic in the whole region.
