Lake Trasimeno
Dear friends,
Lake
Trasimeno is definitely a place that you should include in your itinerary. I
want to clarify that the lake is in Umbria, which is the region bordering
Tuscany and so it is really close as you can see on the map below:
Lake
Trasimeno in addition to being the third largest lake in Italy is not only
interesting for its size but also for its scenery.
The lake is
surrounded by very attractive small villages worth visiting; the most famous
are Castiglione del Lago and Passignano sul Trasimeno. The first is especially
beautiful and the second is where you will find two of the best restaurants in
the area who cook both fresh fishes and saltwater.
A visit to Passignano
at 7 pm is recommended during the summer months. Have a drink or a beer while
watching the sun set over this beautiful lake is a wonderful ifeeling
(published photographs are taken in Passignano). Recommended restaurants would
be Spinnaker (Passignano same) and Fischio of Merlo. The second is from my
point of view the best fish restaurant in the area. Both restaurants are a tiny
bit expensive (about 40 euros) but are worth it.
Lake Trasimeno is a beautiful and unique place and should be included in a visit in Umbria with other attractions such as Assisi, Gubbio and Montefalco but we will discuss this in another post.
Kind regards,
Giorgio
